[0]The Team Thierry Bosser/Alain Gramme have won the 2008 edition of the MExT Multihull Cup. After 3 hours, 58 minutes and 37 seconds of sailing they had a 37 second advance on the second team, last year's winner Emmanuel Boulogne with Tanguy Kervyn. Luc Hennebel & Marc Vanden Haute took third place at 5 minutes and 2 seconds from the winners.
The race didn't start too well for Bosser/Gramme as they only arrived fifth at the first mark of the race. The upwind leg from Ostend towards Nieuwpoort allowed them to move up to second place behind Boulogne/Tanguy who led from the start. The leg from Nieuwpoort to Blankenberge was again a difficult one as the wind was very strong with variable directions. This required them to keep concentrated all the way. Bosser/Gramme began the last lap from Blankenberge to Ostend in third place with more than 4 minutes behind the leaders Boulogne/Tanguy.
After a rain shower the wind dropped and made a 50° turn to the south west. The MExT Sailing Team members Boulogne/Tanguy got however stuck in a windless zone and 1 km from the finish, the Bosser/Gramme team managed to catch up and overtake the last year's winners of the race.
Thierry Bosser was very excited with him win and Belgian Long Distance Title: "Normally we are not in long distance sailing and prefer upwind/downwind races. We were impressed by the profeesional organisation and enjoyed ourselves very well on the water. At the start of the last lap we were quite behind the current leaders. However, our motivation was high and we kept concentrated to make the best advantage of the current as well as every windshift. Our confidence grew as we were closing in on Boulogne/Kervyn. A positive windshift allowed us to overtake them very close to the finish. This proves again that a race isn't finished until you have passed the finish line."
As Emmanuel Boulogne & Tanguy Kervyn have led through practically the whole race, they won the Keyware Cup for Best Sprinter with four point advantage on Thierry Bosser/Alain Gramme and 12 points on Michel Defrenne/Marc Peeters.
